The Upper Noe Dog Play Area (DPA) was dedicated as Joby's Run in '08 following extensive renovation that improved access, added trees and plantings, and upgraded the surface material for better drainage. The FoNVRC Dog Run Subcommittee is responsible for frequent inspection of Joby's Run, noting conditions and community input, reporting to Rec & Park and FoNVRC, and interfacing with Friends of Upper Noe Dog Owners Group (FUNDOG) which has direct stewardship responsibility for care of this DPA. Chris Faust leads this group on the Stewardship Committee: "I have been an advocate for the DPA, currently co chair FUNDOG, serve as Neighborhood Watch block captain for the 200 block of 30th Street, and work with the Dept. Public Works Graffiti Watch program. We have a great neighborhood and nice neighbors. The Rec Center provides a place where we can come together, get to know one another and build community. My goals are to ensure a clean and safe environment where people want to spend time, to enhance the experience with improvements for people and dogs, and to promote communication between neighbors." A power washer was brought in along with scrub brushes, buckets and plenty of organic biodegradable soap. Fences, poles, sidewalks, decking, garbage cans, benches, even trees were washed and sprayed with powerful jets of clean water. A bit of landscaping was done to clear debris, clean up the gravel surface and clear sprinkler heads. It was a long and exhausting day but our noses tell us it was all worth while. Only the dogs seemed to mind, "Hey, where did all my graffiti go, and why does it smell so fresh in here?!!!" |

Clean Up Day in Joby's Run on March 21 was a successful event. Neighbors pitched in to clean and sanitize, sweep, weed, and perform some much needed landscaping. Rec & Park workers were on hand with tools and hoses.
